Yeah it’s true the White Rapper show I know you’ve been watching on VH1 was won by a southern rapper this past Sunday night. He goes by the name Shamrock out of the ATL and he won in the finale doing a live performace at the NYC club Hell beating out the other finalest John Brown. Like it or not but much of the reason why Shamrock was given the win was the current status of the south in the hip hop game. The south is large at the moment and Shamrock had his Paul Wall look and grill down and showed a lot of improvement during the season from start to finish.

However the win likely should have gone to the other man. He showed far more lyrical talent but as one of the judges said in the finale, lyrics dont matter any more. It’s sad that it’s come to that but I’m not sure I totally agree. Many of the southern rappers, well let me say UGK the southern royalty have some lyrical game as well as a few others like Chamillionaire, at moments Lil Flip and even a few of the lesser knowns. But really it was a gift to the south as a show of respect and a nod from the NYC and some old hip hop heads that the south is coming up and we’re not going anywhere anytime soon. Whether or not Shamrock makes it, he’s 100G’s richer and has a tv name to start building his career on, but the south is still going to keep blowing up for the near future.

Let me put it out there like this, we’ve got a Bun B myspace profile that’s the official Bun B myspace but it’s not managed or handled by Bun B. Instead it’s managed by some kid that spends most of the time filling it with garbage and spamming people with annoucements to promote himself or things that have little to do with UGK.

Fans of UGK need to get together and get rid of this wack ass profile if you haven’t already, or blast this kid with some comments to set it straight. Im deleting it off of my list today and letting you all know that we want real profiles done by the real people and if it’s not, at least make the shit relevant and not spam the shit out of us bitch! Here’s the link to the official Bun B myspace currently run by someone other than Bun B spamming his bullshit every day of the week. So delete this wack ass spammer and remember to cop that new UGK due out next month, and stay tuned here for the review and preview!

So whats it really all about the mixtapes, the RIAA, the arrests of DJ Drama and the impending explosion that is the independent music business? As many of you heads already know DJ Drama was arrested this past week and his office raided by local police and the RIAA. Maybe some of you are saying what the fuck is the RIAA. Well thats the Recording Industry Association of America. And why should you give a fuck about them, well they’re the ones representing the major consolidation of power in the music business and thats the record companies. So they’re the ones feeding you trash, paying the artists dirt cheap, owning the masters, keeping you from downloading music and sharing it or even mixtapes now. (continue reading…)

So it’s finally come about that man Chamillionaire has dropped the Mixtape Messiah Part 2 on us from his very own website as of Christmas Eve. I’ve already got my hands on a copy and have been listening to it for a couple days and I like alot of what I hear.

If you’re looking for more of the lyrical madness that Cham throws down on the mic then you’ll get it here. But he also spends a little time addressing what Nas says in Hip Hop Is Dead. Does he agree or not well I guess that’s something that you’ll need to find out for yourself. Stay tuned for a review of this and the Big Tuck review still to come this week!

That’s right people the man who’s putting Dallas back in the game, Big Tuck – The Absolute Truth dropped into your local records stores yesterday. I already copped that shit so the review is soon to come. I’ve played through about 4 times already and like what I’m hearing, so I can tell you to go ahead and grab a copy for yourself even before I write the review.

He’s got some of the usual suspects on there like Chamillionaire, Bun B, Slim Thug and even Paul Wall. So get in your store and cop that shit and stay tuned for the real Grippin the Grain review coming soon!
