Both Sides of the Boards -Mixtape Review

bruce takaraSo my man just dropped his new mixtape, Both Sides of the Boards, Bruce Takara vs Bruce B and I got the download last night and have been listening throughout the day while I do updates and shit. Let me drop a little review for you and share it with all of you out there. My man is doing some nice stuff and I think you’re going to enjoy it, I know I was suprised at how good it turned out to be.

Mixtapes are always the way to get the latest shit to hit the streets and it’s my main source of music these days. I’ve given up on buying overproduced bullshit from the stores and paying their bullshit prices. I’ll cop a free mixtape or a $6 mixtape anyday to hear the shit that’s hot on the streets or about to be. So my man Bruce Takara AKA Bruce Bang has been in his studio trying to throw something fresh together and you can tell her put some work into it. This mix has got a little of everything not just hardcore southern hip hop.

So it starts out with one of the better tracks on the mix Rep the Dome right after the intro and it’s your boy Kiotti and Kruger on the track throwing down some heat over a hot beat. This is one of the better tracks on the mix and you can already start to feel it in the very first track. A few tracks later though you hit the real shit when you pull up track 4 Falsifiyn with Paul Wall and Chamillionaire. This might be the best track on the mixtape this is the one you bang hard in your car and keep the chorus in your head. This is where the mix really starts to shine, there’s hardly a shitty beat on a mix and that’s pretty rare these days. 27 tracks in total with hot beats on every one, featuring artists like Kiotti, Chamillionaire, Wonderus and the Ghostwriters. You also get some remixes at the end with a little Pac and LL.

You can listen to this one from begining to end and don’t worry it’s even got some softer R&B type of tracks to keep your lady in check while you’re gripping the grain. It’s the first mix I’ve heard from Bruce and I have to say it’s some good shit, I put it up there with some of the mixes that I hear from the bigger name DJ’s out there and I am looking forward to seeing what’s up for the future. Look for maybe a Bruce Bang interview to hit the site here maybe in the near future, maybe a few more tracks not on this mix to share with you and who knows what else is coming up. Big things for the south in 2006 that’s a guarantee and I might have a few surprises up my sleeve as well that you are going to enjoy.

As always you can check out a few of the tracks from the mix in the sidebar and here’s a link to cop a free download for a short time only. This download link will expire soon so cops your today and share it with your friends, set the streets on fire and check back on GrippinGrain.com for more info and news in the near future. Feel free to share your thoughts, comments and own reviews on this mix as your boy Bruce is going to be reading to see what you’ve got to say.
